The Parenting Alchemist
For parents who deeply love their kids, are determined to do things differently, and still find themselves reacting in ways they swore they never would.
I'm a Parenting Alchemist, speaker, mother of two boys, founder of the Resourced Parenting Method™, and author of F*ck Up Your Kids with Grace & Humour: The Truth About Parenting.
I work with parents who love their children fiercely, want to break the patterns they inherited, and are exhausted from still losing their shit in moments they thought they should be able to handle better by now.
Because the truth is, parenting is not about managing your child's behaviour.
It is about understanding what gets activated in you.
The fear. The guilt. The control. The shutdown. The need to fix, rescue, protect, prove, explain or get it right.
It is about seeing where those reactions came from, what you learnt love, safety and belonging were supposed to look like, and what you are still carrying from your own childhood.
And then learning how to meet yourself, your child and the messy moments differently.
With honesty. With repair. With capacity.
And yes, with grace and humour, because if we cannot laugh at the glorious, heartbreaking, ridiculous mess of being human, we are most likely going to drown in shame.
I am not here to help you become a perfect parent.
I am here to help you become a more honest, present, resourced and resilient one.
Here's the heart of the work.
You can know what kind of parent you want to be and still not be able to access that parent when you are exhausted, triggered, overwhelmed or afraid. That is not because you are broken. It is because awareness and capacity are not the same thing.
Your child does not need a parent who never gets it wrong. They need a parent who is willing to see what is really happening beneath the reaction, repair what needs repairing, and stop passing down patterns unconsciously.
This work is about more than parenting strategies. It is about becoming resourced enough to respond differently in the moments that matter most.
I am building a parenting movement for the parents who know there has to be another way. A way that helps us raise emotionally regulated, resourced and resilient humans. Kids who do not need the world to change before they can be okay. Kids who become so steady within themselves that they can meet life, speak truth, make mistakes, repair, grow and eventually change the world around them.
But that does not begin with controlling them. It begins with understanding ourselves.
Because resilient kids are not raised by perfect parents. They are raised by parents willing to build capacity, tell the truth, repair the rupture and stop parenting from old pain.
Whether you are here for the book, the workshops, the method or a conversation, this work begins with one simple truth: your parenting changes when you do.

When a parent changes the place they are parenting from, the child receives a different world. That is the quiet revolution inside this book.
This book has dirt under its fingernails. It has tears in it. It has laughter in it. It has the quality of someone who has entered her own fire and returned with something useful.

F*ck Up Your Kids with Grace & Humour: The Truth About Parenting
Most parenting books tell you how to handle your child. This book asks you to understand yourself.
It is for parents who are self-aware, emotionally invested, determined to do things differently, and still find themselves reacting, controlling, yelling, withdrawing, rescuing or getting pulled into the same painful patterns.
This is not another parenting rulebook. It is a truth-telling, pattern-breaking, deeply human invitation to stop parenting from your past and start building something different with your child.
Reading the book will give you language, awareness and truth. But awareness alone is not always enough.
The live workshop series is where we take the ideas from the book and bring them into real parenting moments: the reactions, the guilt, the fear, the rescuing, the controlling, the shutdown, the repair. This is where you begin building the capacity to parent differently when it actually counts.
Disrupting Your Hidden Parenting Patterns
A free 6-part live series, 7 to 18 September, 11am NZT, for parents who are done reacting and repeating the same patterns. Replays included.
And your kids are paying for it.
Why rescuing feels like love, and isn't.
Victim parenting and the illusion of control.
Nothing is broken. Not them. Not you.
End the self-abandonment.
Parent from possibility, not fear.
The full six-part series is free. Register on its own, or preorder the book and you are automatically registered for every session, with replays included.

In over 25 years working with families, I have learned that lasting change never starts with the child. It starts with the parent, and that is exactly where Jacqlin Richards begins. Real, raw, and refreshingly honest, this book reminds us that parenting was never meant to be perfect. With humor and lived experience, she shows how the patterns we inherited shape the way we raise our kids, and offers something far more powerful than perfection: when we heal and grow, our children do too.

It will crack you open, make you laugh out loud, and invite you to parent (and live) with far more honesty, grace, and humanity.
